First two days of school!

Wheewwww!!!  We have been busy, busy, busy these first two days of school!  Here is a quick peek into what we have been doing.  Please check back this weekend for an updated "Peek at the Week"!

We have been learning how to use the Smart Board!  We use this each morning to make a lunch choice, read the morning message, and complete an activity!

We had our first King of the Day!  Each day we will focus on one student in order to get to know him/her better.  We will also write a short paragraph about our king/queen and put it in a class book.  After all our kings and queens have had a turn, I will send home a copy of the enitre book!

We made our social contract.  In first grade we are working to be safe, be kind, and be fair.  We talked about what this should look like and sound like in our classroom.  We signed our contract which means we agree to follow these rules!

In Reader's Workshop we learned there are 3 ways to read a book- read the words, read the pictures, and retell the story.  In order to become independent readers, we have to build our reading stamina. We practiced getting our book bins, finding a good reading spot, and reading the whole Read-to-Self time.  We did a great job!
